Angelica Peralta is originally from Kansas, spent some time living in North Dakota, then Nevada, and has made Colorado home since April 2021. Angelica has an undergraduate degree in Family Studies and Human Services with a focus on Conflict Analysis and Trauma Studies from Kansas State University. Angelica began supporting Art from Ashes as an intern in Fall 2021 as she was completing her graduate degree in Social Work with University of Nevada, Reno. She now serves as Director of Operations of the organization.
From personal experience and in her years working with individuals and families struggling with homelessness, food scarcity, and various other social injustices, her affinity for policy grew. Using drawing and creative writing Angelica has empowered herself to be an advocate for herself and others. She believes in the power of changing the narrative of one’s life and that using creative artistic expression is an amazing tool toward positive transformation.
In her free time, Angelica enjoys spending time with her family and pets. She loves doing puzzles, reading, Zumba, and spending time in nature.
