Jarod Smilkstein is a Colorado native, growing up in Boulder (Go Buffs!) and living in Aurora before finally making it to Denver proper. Prior to joining the Art from Ashes team, he worked in tech as a software and QA engineer at startups and large corporations. For more than 15 years, Jarod has been committed to nonprofit work in various sectors, serving on the board of directors of ALS United Rocky Mountain while also serving on various giving committees at companies where he worked. Jarod was a volunteer at Art from Ashes for more than two years before joining our staff as the Community Liaison and Volunteer Coordinator.
Jarod has always loved writing, from creative fiction to poetry, and has experienced the transformative power of creativity and the programming that Art from Ashes brings to Colorado youth. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, running, hiking, or just relaxing in nature.
