In 2025, Art from Ashes is continuing our partnership with MCA Denver, collaborating in multiple events throughout the year.

To kick things off, on February 20th, Art from Ashes participated in MCA’s Career in the Arts event at the Holiday Theater. The event educated teens and adults on opportunities that exist for young creatives as they start their careers. Anthony Garcia Sr, of Birdseed Collective, kicked off the evening, followed by Alicia “Bruce” Trujillo of Manos Sagrados. Past AfA guest artist and slam champion Hakeem Furious ended the night with a powerful performance.

On April 11, MCA Denver and AfA partnered again at the teen Anti-Hero Film Festival. This event showcased a dozen films written, filmed, and produced by teens. Three AfA youth poets – Josiah (age 18), Narriah (age 18) and Osei (age 22) performed poems written in Phoenix Rising workshops during a “poetic pause” between films.

The collaboration is expected to continue this spring and summer through workshops and performances, so stay tuned for more opportunities to see and hear our youth poets perform!
