DESCRIPTION:Thank you to all those who “came out!” Re-live the fun here:\n[slideshow_deploy id=’4067′] \nCome out on Sunday\, Sept 25 and show support for Denver’s LGBTQ+ youth at Denver’s SEVENTH annual Running of the Gays!\nGet yer heels (and ankles!) ready to roll… or strut\, or hop\, or stumble in a 3-block “marathon” in heels to fund creative programs for LGBTQ+ youth in our community. The event is organized by Denver’s LGBTQIA* community and Art from Ashes. Each year runners are asked to raise money through sponsorships to trot 3 blocks down 17th Avenue in heels\, starting at Ace Eat Serve patio next to Steuben’s Food Service followed by an all ages (until 2 pm) after party at X Bar! \nEvery year AfA\, the queer community and allies run a 3-block marathon in heels to help fund creative empowerment workshops for the LGBTQ+ youth in our community. Runners register with a $40 donation ($35 before August 31st). \nRUNNERS WISHING TO REGISTER: HERE!\n(or send by cash or check to Art from Ashes\, 853 Inca St\, Suite 1A\, Denver CO 80204)\nRunners seek sponsorships from friends and family to raise money for the youth programs. DESCRIPTION:Yoga Teacher/ Artist\, Courtney Chandler and Business Owner/ Philanthropist/ Freakshow\, Allison Parks have dreamed and schemed some play time. We will be putting on a transformative poetry yoga class in City Park on Sunday\, July 10th at 4:00 pm. \nWe will be perfectly situated to stick around for Jazz in the Park afterwards\, which beings at 6:00 pm\, so bring any blankets or snacks that you may want for that. I will bring wine in a box to share. \nAll proceeds from the yoga class will go to Art from Ashes\, a local nonprofit which brings poetry\, art\, and theater workshops to at-risk youth\, so please bring a minimum $10 donation for Art from Ashes. By all means\, you are welcome to donate more! \nAll peeps are welcome at this event\, so feel free to bring your significant other\, mother\, offspring\, or hair stylist! We will be situated to the south of the lake where they do the Jazz in the Park. DESCRIPTION:The Phoenix Rising process is designed to allow participants to recognize their inherent creative power and how perception affects our identity and our reality. Art from Ashes uses the latest research in left-brain/right-brain functioning and the role of creativity in transformation to encourage participants to access the creative subconscious and the power available through artistic expression. DESCRIPTION:Art from Ashes youth will be performing at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival as part of the SCFD Alliance Project.\nJoin AfA in the Janus Art Experience tent on Sunday\, July 3 from 1.30 to 2.30 to listen to some amazing youth poets and to try your hand at writing your own 3-minute poem!\n\n\nPark at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center at the West Deck then walk over to Clayton St between 2nd and 3rd.\n\n\nALLIANCE PROJECT\nThe Scientific Cultural Collaborative is a unique cross-curricular educational partnership of arts\, science and cultural organizations\, which serves over 20\,000 Denver area middle school kids per year. Under this partnership twenty-seven organizations work together to provide a grant for a program called the Alliance Project. The Arts Festival is active in the Alliance Project and teachers credit the Alliance Project with enriching their curriculum and boosting state art standards. This national model is based on a collaboration among Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) Tier II arts\, science and cultural organizations. DESCRIPTION:Join us every First Friday in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe for youth spoken word performances at different venues on Santa Fe Dr. between 6.30 and 7 pm. \n\nMuch more than a public performance\, youth gather at Art from Ashes at 4.30 for a FREE one-hour Phoenix Rising writing wordshop\, followed at 5.30 by a FREE 45-minute performance workshop\, featuring a local performance poet. Art from Ashes uses the latest research in left-brain/right-brain functioning and the role of creativity in transformation to encourage participants to access the creative subconscious and the power available through artistic expression.
