Youth poets performing on First Friday has been a tradition at Art from Ashes for 15 years! This special evening provides the young people in our Phoenix Rising program an opportunity to showcase their creative genius to community members through poems written in our workshops. During the summer months, youth typically perform in front of our offices on the corner of 10th and Osage—just up from the light rail station—and also at youth-friendly galleries in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe.
Due to COVID-19, the youth poets have been unable to perform at public events…but First Friday is still happening, because youth voices need to be HEARD!
Since April, young people have been performing every First Friday on Instagram Live for a caring and appreciative audience. Want a way to support our youth and hear some awesome poems? You can join us every First Friday on Instagram and fill the feed with lots of love (and emojis ).
Join us every First Friday of the month at 6pm to celebrate the courage, vulnerability and creativity of young people!
