Jodye Whitesell, Secretary and Communications Team Liaison
Length of Service at AfA: March 2022
Jodye, she/her/ella, thrives on creativity and collaboration. With almost a decade of marketing and communications experience, she has worked in everything from higher education to real estate and is honored to now contribute her skills to supporting nonprofits. Professionally, she works as the Director of Communications and Culture for Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation, where she oversees outreach and messaging strategies, designs materials for the organization, and supports everything from hospital dog photo shoots to campaigns to educate about the life-saving magic of human donor milk. She also leads the organization’s human resources efforts, including cultivating a positive team culture, supporting employee engagement and growth opportunities, and creating a framework for forward-thinking people management. No matter what she is doing, Jodye leads with compassion, humanity, and a genuine desire to serve.
Growing up, Jodye was a Girl Scout, Mathlete, and drum major for her high school band. In search of a creative challenge after a left-brain heavy youth, she went to college for film, with the goal of becoming a documentary filmmaker. While life had other plans, this education built a strong storytelling foundation that has underlined her career in marketing. Later Jodye earned an MBA and found a way to combine her creative impulse with a natural affinity for analytics and organizational strategy.
Jodye carries her passion for creativity beyond the office. At home, you can find her with knitting needles or a watering can. She loves all things craft (knitting, quilting, sewing, paper crafts), as well as plants, gardening, cooking, and baking. She’s a mountain girl at heart and finds both peace and excitement in nature, with camera in hand and family by her side.
