Art from Ashes was invited to join community organizations from across Denver to participate in the “Spark for our Youth” Resource Fair hosted by one of our long-time partners, Urban Peak. Urban Peak ignites the potential in youth to exit homelessness and create self-determined, fulfilled lives. This event provided local youth with a chance to learn about employment opportunities, mental health resources, mentorship programs and other organizations that exist to help support and empower youth.
Our awesome Director of Programs, Kree Thawley, spoke to a packed house about the importance of facilitating youth empowerment and AfA’s commitment to doing so, followed by a poetry performance by McKenna Prynn , who also serves youth as a guest poet in AfA workshops. Kelly Thomas, President of our Board of Directors, joined Kree and McKenna in inviting young people to join AfA’s free drop-in workshops on Wednesday afternoons. More than 100 youth and adults filled the Town Hall Collaborative space with a joyous and hopeful energy, fueled by ice cream, empanadas and the power of poetry!
