Columbine Unitarian Universalist Church is highlighting local BIPOC artists with a series of art shows featuring their work. Visionary Denver artist, Mario Sauceda, was the first to be featured. Art from Ashes was honored to learn that, because of our work with local youth, our organization was selected to receive a donation based on a percentage of proceeds from sales of Sauceda’s paintings during this event.

On Friday, February 3rd, several AfA representatives attended the opening to show support and appreciation for Sauceda and his work. Before a warm and welcoming audience, AfA’s Executive Director, Jessica Jarrard, spoke about AfA’s mission to encourage and empower Denver’s youth, and Youth Liaison, Alex Susman (age 18), performed a poem he had written in just 3 minutes in an AfA workshop.

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy incredible art and live music while raising awareness for AfA’s creative youth empowerment programs, adult workshops, and volunteer opportunities.
